Pricing
Most accountants won't tell you what they charge until you've already called.
We think that's backwards. Here's what our work starts at, what moves the number, and what you get for it.
Monthly Bookkeeping
Based on transaction volume and number of accounts.
- Monthly bank and credit card reconciliation
- Categorized transactions in QuickBooks or Xero
- Profit & loss statement and balance sheet every month
- Year-end package handed straight to your tax preparer — or to us
Individual Tax Preparation
Per return. Depends on schedules, states, and forms required.
- Federal and state return preparation
- Schedule C for self-employment and side income
- Schedule E for rental property
- Multi-state and part-year resident returns
Business Tax & Entity Strategy
Per business return. Entity analysis is included in your consultation.
- 1120-S, 1065, and 1120 return preparation
- S-Corp election analysis and filing (Form 2553)
- Reasonable-salary analysis for S-Corp owners
- Quarterly estimated tax calculations
Payroll & Contractor Filings
Plus per-employee fee. Scales with headcount.
- Payroll processing on your schedule
- Federal and state payroll tax deposits
- Quarterly 941 and state filings
- Year-end W-2 preparation and distribution
Bundling bookkeeping with tax is the usual setup
When we keep the books, the return is faster and cheaper to prepare because nothing has to be reconstructed in March. Ask about the combined rate on your call.
Fair questions about price
Why is it 'starting at' instead of a flat price?
Because a business with 40 transactions a month and a business with 900 are not the same job, and quoting them the same would mean one of you is overpaying. The starting price is real — it's what our simplest engagements cost. Your quote comes after we've seen your actual situation.
What makes the price go up?
Transaction volume, number of bank and credit card accounts, how far behind the books are, additional states, employees on payroll, and inventory. We'll tell you which of these apply to you on the call.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. Thirty minutes, no obligation, and no work begins until you've seen and accepted a written quote.
Do you require a long contract?
No. Monthly services are month-to-month. If we're not earning it, you shouldn't be locked in.
How does catch-up work get priced?
Separately from ongoing monthly work, and quoted up front, so you can see exactly what the cleanup costs versus what maintenance costs going forward.
