Most of the businesses we work with came to us the same way: something slipped. A notice arrived. The books hadn't been touched since the spring. The return got extended and then extended again. None of it is unusual, and none of it is unfixable — but it's a lot harder to sort out at the last minute than it is to prevent.

What we try to do differently is straightforward. We publish our starting prices, because being told “it depends” three times before hearing a number is a bad way to start a professional relationship. We quote in writing before starting work. And the same person handles your account month to month, rather than routing you through whoever picks up.

What an Enrolled Agent is

An Enrolled Agent is licensed directly by the IRS — the only federally licensed tax practitioner credential — and has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all fifty states. Practically, that means if a notice shows up or a return needs defending, we can correspond with the IRS on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number.

It's a different credential from a CPA, and for tax and representation work it's the one that matters. We're also certified in QuickBooks and Xero, which is the less glamorous half of the job and the half that actually determines whether your books are usable in April.

What we don't do

We are not a registered investment adviser and we don't give investment advice. We won't tell you what to buy, and anyone in this industry who volunteers that alongside your bookkeeping is worth a second look. We also won't take on work we can't do well — if your situation needs an attorney or a specialist, we'll say so on the first call.
